This completely updated training is highly recommended from a liability protection point of view. You’ll gain the knowledge and resources to prepare your management, staff, and volunteers to avoid credit union and individual liability. Protecting your members’ personal information and using it in a manner consistent with member expectations must be a top priority for every credit union. The workshop's topics include:

  • Information security and the credit union’s obligations
  • Identity Theft Red Flags and obligations for each employee, officer, and volunteer (Required training for all)
  • Credit union obligations with regard to address discrepancies
  • Handling main and returned mail obligations
  • Fraud, forgery, identity theft and credit union obligations/liability protection
  • Documenting credit union files and board minutes
  • Technology issues
  • Policy and procedure obligations and recommendations
  • Practical considerations to avoid legal and regulatory liability

You’ll update your own compliance knowledge, plus you’ll receive the materials you need to present and document in-house training sessions, including PowerPoints on CD, training guides, quizzes, certificates, and attendance logs. To ensure your training materials continue to meet evolving regulatory standards, you’ll receive free updates for one full year.

Todd Sherpy is a founding partner in Sherpy & Jones, P.A, of Lexington, South Carolina. Todd and his team are dedicated to serving the legal needs of credit unions and have attained a national reputation for their work in legal auditing, compliance, and bankruptcy/collections. Todd has also authored CUNA’s RegTraC and VAP training modules and serves as editor of Credit Union Legal News©.

Christy Curtis Jones
Christy Curtis Jones is an attorney with Sherpy & Jones, P.A., a firm that specializes in servicing credit unions’ needs. Jones concentrates her practice in the areas of creditor/debtor rights, bankruptcy, collections, and foreclosure. In addition to her credit union training activities, she has served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, teaching legal writing to first year students.
